2018 Masters Artistic Pool Championship

Press Release!

The 2018 WPA-APD Masters Artistic Pool Championship will once again return to Jamaica Joe’s Billiard Bar and Grill in Midwest City Oklahoma on June 14th through June 16th. This will be Jamaica Joe’s fourth Artistic Pool Tournament in as many years. Players from all over the country will descend on Midwest City to show off their skills and compete for the honor to be called Masters Champion. The three previous events at Jamaica Joe’s were won by WPA #1 ranked player William “The Gentleman” DeYonker. William will be going for the “4 peat” while the other players and looking to dethrone William.

The WPA-APD will once again partner with the charity group 10 Strong to help raise money for families that have kids will cancer. The WPA-APD has partnered with 10 Strong the previous two years and helped to raise over two thousand dollars. The event will once again feature an open speed pool tournament on Thursday night as a fundraiser for 10 Strong. This event allows amateurs to compete with the Artistic Pool pros in a test of speed and concentration. For the last two years, local player and current WPA-APD President “Dr Popper” Mark Dimick has won the tournament. Like William, Mark is looking for the “3 peat” while others are looking to win for the first time.

Friday night a selected few will compete in the 2nd Ben Zeman Trickshot Shootout; a side exhibition that honors the late Ben Zeman.  Ben was the founder of the Wisconsin Artistic Pool Players Association. (later renamed the World Artistic Pool Players Association) The WAPPA was formed for players to share their shots and a way for players to connect with each other online.  Ben also started an amateur artistic pool movement in Wisconsin as well as an APA league.  His dream was to have some of the top players compete in this format.  This is a freestyle event where the players bring out whatever shot they want and the other players must duplicate it.  If they fail to make the shot, they get a letter.  If they make the shot, the don’t get a letter.  At our last event “The Gentlemen” William DeYonker outlasted “The Michigan Kid” Jason Lynch and Abram “Too Tall” Dias to win the championship belt.  William will be defending his title again against Jason and Abram.  We’ll see if William can keep the belt, or if either Jason and Abram can take it from him.

Ben said, “I want to leave a Legacy” and the WPA-APD will make sure that his legacy will live on.

We are also pleased to announce that this tournament and the side events will
